About a dozen CPTC harriers traveled to Franklin Park, Boston last month for the USATF Masters 5k Cross Country National Championships. The meet attracts some of the finest masters fields in the nation every year, and feels like a celebration of masters running.
The powerhouse CPTC 50-59 men were the standouts, finishing second in the team championship with 67 points, behind Greater Springfield Harriers, with 41 points.
The day was warm and humid, bringing an element of attrition to even a relatively short race. Many were caught out too fast on the flat first mile and had to gut out the hills in the second half of the race.
The finishers in order for the 50+ were Brad Kelley, Gerry O’Hara, Armando Oliveira, David Dorsey, David Greenberg and Charles Parchment.
