Looney runs 2:23 for 1,000m club record, breaks 1:50 in 800m

Billy Looney‘s 2017 season has started about as well as he could have asked: personal bests in the 600m, 800m 1,000m and mile, and he’s not done yet. His 1,000m time of 2:23.66 at the Boston University Terrier Classic on January 28 broke the club record by more than 1.5 seconds. The time may qualify him for the USATF Championships in Albuquerque next month. In the same race, Victor Palumbo also ran under the old club record, clocking a time of 2:24.41, improving more than 10 seconds from his best time prior to this year. Adding to the weekend’s success, Nolan Kier also ran a personal…

PRinceton PRs

Perfect weather in Princeton, NJ on the evening of Friday, April 22 helped a number of the CPTC mid-distance men run personal bests (or very close to them). Click here for full results.  Action started when Sean Atkinson ran an outdoor PB in the 800m of 1:51.31. Just short of his overall PB, this is the fastest Sean has opened any outdoor season. He will be looking to drop at least a second off that time at the University of Maryland Kehoe Twilight meet on May 6. On April 16, Sean dropped another 4 seconds off his 1500m PB, sneaking…

Victor Palumbo runs 14:45.50 5k (42 second PB!)

The CPTC New Balance mid-distance crew has been anxiously awaiting Victor Palumbo’s 5,000m opener. After setting personal bests indoor at 3,000m (8:37.17, #10 indoor all-time) and the mile (4:14.81, a 7 second PB), he’s been crushing workouts: for instance, 3 x 1600 at 4:41 average and also 10 x 400 at 60-61 average.  The wait ended on Friday, April 8th when Victor ran 14:45.50 at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University. The time was a 42 second improvement on his 15:27 PB from Swarthmore last May and enough to grab #10 on the CPTC overall best list.  Victor will…
