Sid Howard has been a busy man these past few weeks. First, he spent 18 days in Bolivia, and then travelled to his home away from home in Bermuda to compete in the International Race Weekend 10K. This marks the 29th time in the last 30 years that Sid has run in this prestigious event (Sid missed the event in 1997 when his wife passed away). And from the looks of things, “Super Sid” is just as popular in Bermuda as he is in New York.

Tony s distance group will be starting training indoors at The Armory (168th Street and Fort Washington Avenue) on Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30pm. (Devon s middle-distance group will start on November, 27th at 6:35pm.) These coached workouts will be held every Tuesday night through to early April. To participate in these workouts you will need to print off the Armory contract located here, and mail it along with a $300 check to The Armory Foundation. Further details are located here.

For those of you who don t know, The Armory is a world-class indoor facility where several records have been set, and we are indeed fortunate to have it available to us here in New York City. Training indoors once a week during the cold winter months can be of great benefit to one s performance and is highly recommended by our distance coach Tony.

Our Armory Assistance Fund is available to members for whom the $300 cost up front is prohibitive. If you are interested in financial assistance, please email Alan Ruben at aruben AT montran.com .

If you are able to contribute to our Armory Assistance Fund, any amount will be gratefully received (and will also be tax-deductible). It will go directly towards helping your teammates attend our indoor workouts at The Armory. Checks payable to Central Park Track Club can be mailed to Alan Ruben, 801 West End Avenue, Apt 5E, New York, NY 10025.
