Coach Hogg leads Lehman to CUNYAC Runner-Up Trophies

CPTC Sprint Coach and Lehman College Head Coach Lesleigh Hogg took his men’s and women’s teams to second place in this year’s CUNY indoor championship. Both teams were hoping to win their third straight conference titles but the men lost narrowly.

Irfan Anwar was expected to contribute big time by running four events and he did not disappoint. He won the 1500 in 4:21.60, placed fourth in the 800 in 2:01.84 and third in the 5000. Last but not least, he helped the 4×400 team to come in second.

Bermuda Royal Gazette on Sid Howard

The Royal Gazette wrote a story on Sid Howard’s 31st Bermuda race. Each year, Sid takes part in the Bermuda International Race Weekend, usually running the 10K and helping out at race registration.

He’s been to Bermuda so many times, almost nonstop for 31 years, that local runners consider him an honorary Bermudian.

Runnersworld profiles CPTC member George Hirsch

In a blitz of media coverage, Runner’s World and the NY Times describe long-time CPTC member George Hirsch’s recent NYC marathon after a five year retirement. And after running the Chicago Marathon last month.

We may know Hirsch’s name as the chairman of NY Road Runners. But he was also the founder of Runner, a magazine that later merged with Runner’s World, publisher of New York magazine, and with Fred Lebow one of the organizers of the first five borough NYC marathon.

Dustin Fure and his girlfriend, Emilie, were featured recently in the New York Times. The article, part of the real estate series called “The Hunt,” recounts how Dustin and Emilie were forced to look for a new place on short notice after their five-story building on Second Avenue was evacuated. The culprit: the danger of collapse related to underground construction on the 2nd Avenue subway.

Joanel Lopez wins Gold at Deaflympics
