Looney runs 2:23 for 1,000m club record, breaks 1:50 in 800m

Billy Looney‘s 2017 season has started about as well as he could have asked: personal bests in the 600m, 800m 1,000m and mile, and he’s not done yet. His 1,000m time of 2:23.66 at the Boston University Terrier Classic on January 28 broke the club record by more than 1.5 seconds. The time may qualify him for the USATF Championships in Albuquerque next month. In the same race, Victor Palumbo also ran under the old club record, clocking a time of 2:24.41, improving more than 10 seconds from his best time prior to this year. Peter Brady Sets World Lead, Named USATF-NY Masters Athlete of the Month

Our 40-49 track captain has had a standout first season in the 45-49. Read about it below, reprinted from USATF-NY: Peter Brady, 45, of Jersey City, N.J. has been selected as the USATF New York Masters Athlete of the Month for January 2017.  Brady competes for the Central Park Track Club. He started the month off on January 12 running 2:36.20 over 1000m.  His age-graded score was 92.64% (scores of over 90% are considered world class performances). Race Reports from the Men: NYC Marathon

Report from Greg Cass and Phil Falk of the Open: The NYC Marathon is always one of the best days of the year in the city, and 2016 didn’t disappoint.  As the calendar turned to November, we mostly managed to leave the hot weather in the summer and the painfully cold rain and wind in October / Staten Island.  This year’s marathon saw comfortable temperatures and a cool fall breeze – perfect spectating weather but perhaps just a little short of ideal for the runners.  CPTC showed well – persevering on the course and cheering from the sideline.  In the end,…
