Report of Sylvie Kimche of the 70+: Washington Heights 5k

On a very cold and windy morning – what else is new? It’s either very cold and windy … or rainy for that first race of the year…. the W70+ stated the year with a bang with a (tight) first place finish only 10″ ahead of Mercury Masters. Our fighters were Deborah Barchat, Judith Tripp and the forever-young Lynn Blackstone. Deb led the team in 33:54. She was 1st too in her W70-74 age group (out of 37). Well done Deb! Deb’s comments on the race: It was murder, fighting the whole way.  Waiting almost 14 min to start (I…

Report of Noel Labat-Comess of the 60+: USATF National Club Cross Country Championships

Photo: Johnny Zhang It’s all said and run. The weather threatened all week and then, though the sun didn’t shine, the rain retreated just in time and we were off. The course was well-soaked and spikes were de rigueur. (In a perfect moment of just-in-time delivery Devon arrived, spikes in hand for Paige Yellen, literally three minutes before the women’s gun, and Paige zipped off, newly shod, to lead the CPTC 40+ women in.) The course, at Lehigh University, is one well-suited to handle large meets, and while it has no hill to rival that of the Vanny, the constantly rolling…

Report of Hank Schiffman of the 60+: Ted Corbitt 15k

The dust has settled on the 2019 Team Point Race Series. All that are left are tears: joy, rage and crocodilian. Happily I can report none of rage here. Our 60+ took a victory lap, comfortably finishing 1st today: CPTC 3:17:04 WSX 3:27:42 and 1st for for the season with a bang: CPTC 117 Witold’s 78 WSX 77 Our 70+ wet eyes were of the crocodile variety. Today we finished 2nd, a minute and 26 seconds behind Taconic, who are 1st place for the season. To be on the podium Club Night we needed 2 things: for the Flyers not…

W60+ Recap The W60+ team made up of Stacy Creamer, Barbara Byrne & Sherrel Harmon) took 3rd place. Sherrel was 3rd for the team.
