Thursday Night Workout Report March 8th, 2007

After a three week hiatus, the Thursday night workout report returns! You could tell I ve been away for a little bit, as most people forgot to offer up any stories of note. I m sure things will be different next week!! A cold March night with wicked, wicked wind welcomed Central Park Track Club members this past Thursday. The pre-workout talk focused on two things, the weather: and some rumor about a guy attempting to climb Mt. Everest while only wearing shorts (for the record, only three brave souls came to the workout wearing shorts). [Click here for more…

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad March

The brackets for the NCAA basketball tournament were announced yesterday, which means it s time for everyone to get their picks in. And what better place to enter those picks than in the annual CPTC Tournament Challenge? (Don’t answer that — it s a rhetorical question.) Just click here, or go to the ESPN tournament page, and select group CPTC with password cptc. This is a great way to earn bragging rights over all your teammates, and also a trophy of some sort. Plus, just like in the CPTC World Cup pool last summer, there will be a prize (but…

Thank You For Your Patience

The CPTC site was moved to a new, better server on Monday. Unfortunately, that move revealed some flaws in the code, which may have affected your ability to view certain pages this week. I’ve fixed most of these bugs, and expect to have the rest done soon. If you find any pages that aren’t working, please send an email to

Fresh off of winning the coveted NYRR ultra-marathoner of the year award, Anna Fyodorova captured the women s 2007 USATF 50K Road Championship held at Caumsett Park this past Sunday. Friday Night Feldenkrais Workshop Report

Two weeks ago, if you told me that I would spend a Friday night comparing and contrasting photographs of a runner and a robot (and would pay for the privilege to do so), I wouldn t have believed you. However, that s exactly what I and 19 other Central Park Track Club members did this past Friday, as we attended a Feldenkrais Workshop taught by Jae Gruenke. The workshop focused on optimal running form, and the inter-connected goings-on of our body. The goals of the class were simple, to improve your running form / efficiency, and to minimize running injuries…

The Grey Anorexic Lady

Included in Esquire s Things a Man Should Never Do Past 30 is a prohibition against reading Gawker. While in general this may be a good idea, following the rule too closely would deprive one of this: First they gave Mary-Kate Olsen a Times byline, but I did not speak out because I was not a Times reporter.
