CPTC at USA Indoor Nationals

Thirteen CPTC athletes took part in the USA Track & Field Indoor Nationals this past weekend in Boston. The competition, needless to say, was stiff, and the television cameras were rolling, giving the orange jersey a little national exposure on ESPN2.

Aileen Conlon set a new club record in the women’s 3000m, running 9:28.80, good for 15th place. Natalie Gingerich placed 11th in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.80. John Langhauser took 12th in the men’s shot put with a throw of 16.58m. And Jodyann Raymond, in the semis of the women’s 60m, finished in 7.66 seconds.

CPTC also fielded two teams in the exhibition DMR events. The men’s squad–Brian Gertzen, Adrian Crichlow, Les Page, Scott Kallgren, and Will Seidel–took third with a time of 10:10.51. The women’s squad–Kate Cushing, Tyrona Heath, Carn Gehrke, Natalie Gingerich, Aileen Conlon, and Joy Romulus–won their relay in 11:52.30.

Aileen Conlon and Natalie Gingerich to Run in Indoor Nats

The good news just keeps on rolling in. Two more Nike CPTC athletes will be competing against the nation’s best in Boston. Natalie Gingerich (below, left) will race the 1500m, and Aileen Conlon (below, right) will run in the 3000m.

Natalie earned her spot to run against the likes of Sara Hall, Jen Rhines, and Shayne Culpepper by running the mile in a PR of 4:47.97 at the BU Valentine Meet on February 17th. Aileen’s qualifying performance came at the end of January, when she set a new club record in the 3000m by running 9:29.78 at the BU Terrier Classic.

Check out the complete fields Aileen and Natalie will be racing against here. The women’s 3000m goes off at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday February 28th; the women’s 1500m takes place on Sunday March 1st at 6:10 p.m. ESPN2 will broadcast the meet on Sunday evening between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
